About Bay Area Child Care Centers

History

Bay Area Child Care Centers (BACC) is a non-profit organization founded in 1991 by a retired Fremont Unified School District teacher. As a non-profit, our primary mission is to serve and strengthen our community by reinvesting resources directly into the quality and accessibility of our programs. Recognizing a critical need within the community when before- and after-school enrichment programs were not widely available, BACC was created to provide families with dependable childcare on school campuses, with a vision grounded in enrichment, nurturing care, and community building.

Our Program Standards

Licensing:

All Bay Area Child Care Centers (BACC) locations are fully licensed by the state of California and adhere strictly to state guidelines for health, safety, and quality childcare. Our facilities undergo regular inspections by state licensing analysts to ensure ongoing compliance with these high standards, providing peace of mind and a trusted environment for families.

Forward Practices:

The Child Development Training Consortium (CDTC) is a statewide program funded by the California Department of Social Services, Child Care and Development Division.

BACC is an active member of the child care consortium.  Our staff regularly participates in ongoing professional development, training, and professional development through this agency.

Our Philosophy

At Bay Area Child Care Centers (BACC), our mission is to serve the community by providing meaningful experiences for children and adults that celebrate diversity, creativity, kindness, and wonder. We believe children are naturally capable and motivated learners who strive to balance their rights with responsibilities, guided by their unique abilities and perspectives.

Our educators actively collaborate with children, recognizing and nurturing their individual strengths and interests. By providing thoughtfully designed learning experiences, we co-construct knowledge, fostering an environment rich in exploration, creativity, and self-expression. Our centers are intentionally designed to encourage independence while ensuring supportive guidance from our teaching team.

Central to our philosophy is nurturing each child's innate curiosity and creativity. We deeply embrace and respect the diversity of each individual, ensuring every child feels seen, heard, and valued. Community building, meaningful relationship development, and a culture of belonging are fundamental to our approach, creating a supportive and connected environment where children and families thrive. Through collaborative relationships and meaningful interactions, we empower children to develop autonomy, empathy, and a confident sense of self.

Our Staff

Our dedicated team is the heart of Bay Area Child Care Centers (BACC). Guided by a supportive Board of Directors composed of educators, parents, and retired professionals, our program flourishes through collaborative leadership and shared vision. At the helm is our founder, serving as Executive Director, supported by our skilled Business Manager and a passionate team of over 30 educators.

Each site is uniquely shaped by the community it serves, with educators bringing their individual strengths, interests, and cultural experiences to create meaningful, personalized learning environments. Led by experienced Site Supervisors, our teachers and dedicated assistants collaboratively develop programs tailored specifically to the needs and values of the families they serve.

Our educators represent a diverse spectrum of educational backgrounds—from students actively pursuing early childhood education credentials to seasoned professionals holding certifications, bachelor's, and master's degrees in the field.

Safety and professional excellence are paramount: every staff member undergoes thorough background checks, fingerprinting, and maintains certification in CPR and First Aid. Additionally, all team members actively engage in ongoing training and professional development to continuously enhance their skills and stay abreast of evolving practices in early childhood education.

Our Calendar

BACC follows the current FUSD school calendar.  Our program offers holiday care during the FUSD scheduled breaks (fall break, winter break, spring break) during the school year.  During the summer months, our summer camp is in session for kindergarten–5th grade children for approximately 9-10 weeks, with our program closed one week after the school session ends and one week before the school session begins for professional development.
